Hearing any sort of loud noise from my computer bothers me and I'd like to figure out a good solution to this I was looking at some of the forum topics on here and I saw a user named Diesel talking about using the PCI/Hard Drive fan manually to help cool down the computer.and I'm not sure if I should do that. Right now it seems to be fine, but I'm still worried that it might take off like a jet airplane again, and I'm not sure what else I can do. However, I was testing the fix by running some games/programs and I noticed it was still freaking out on occassion. I did this today, and I thought I would be done with it. So, I went out and bought some ArcticSilver thermal compound (I was told that was the best to use) and I reapplied it to the proper location after removing the old paste. I hardly consider myself a computer expert, but I decided to figure it out myself anyways.Īfter snooping around a bit (checking support websites, looking for common problems, etc.) I found that my computer's heatsink's thermal paste was dried out and needed to be replaced. I bought my Alienware Aurora R3 about a year ago and I haven't had much issues with it until recently.my System fan started to run at unusually high speeds, making loud noise, driving me nuts, etc.
